Tyres are worn
We rented a Hyunday i10 to travel around Iceland and it was delivered to us with a very dirty interior and very worn tyres When we pointed this out at the retreat they told us that it was our problem because we had rented a cheap car and that if we had an accident it would be our fault A very unprofessional behaviour considering that many people choose small cars to travel around Iceland obviously because it costs less and I don t see why we should blame a customer for this and that the problem was not the car itself but the tyres which evidently had not been changed for centuries Upon return they met a nicer employee and everything went well Incidentally we chose the Silver protection which protects against damage from dirt roads but in hindsight I wouldn t take any extra insurance again

Beware of damage
The experience was marred by the unscrupulous charges for damage to the vehicle not caused by us We reported minor dings and dents to the agent and was told not to worry it had been checked out before renting and they were normal wear and tear When turning the vehicle in we were hit with an 1100 00 repair bill for something not caused by us It appeared to be a dent to a rear door caused by the wind from a previous renter There was another dent that was notated and pounded out from a previous renter I suspect they were charged a small fortune for a cheap fix to the damage You may be better off with a more reputable company when renting a vehicle

Worst Road side assistance
Absolutely no assistance was provided when my car broke down in the middle of nowhere The roadside assistance team s behavior was shockingly rude they callously hung up the phone while I was still talking to them To make matters worse I had a punctured tire and the support I anticipated was entirely absent They callously informed me that I would have to foot the bill for tire repair and handed me a single phone number leaving me to figure out how to temporarily mend the tire and transport it to a repair shop It s worth noting that my car didn t even have a spare tire it was equipped only with a tire repair kit To add insult to injury upon returning the vehicle the team had the audacity to demand 150 for supposed tire damage alleging that I had used the tire repair kit But how can you charge for tire damage when you didn t provide a spare tire in the first place This experience with the car rental company has been nothing short of a nightmare the worst I ve ever encountered

Esperienza di Noleggio pessima Noleggiata una Dacia Duster che ci stata consegnata con gli pneumatici sgonfi e senza il tergicristallo posteriore ho scoperto praticamente da subito quanto sia indispensabile in Islanda Alla prima tappa mi sono reso conto degli pneumatici ed effettivamente anche la spia all interno segnalava pressione gomme da verificare Ovviamente le ho gonfiate io in un area di servizio La cosa grave avviene per adesso a distanza di un mese dal viaggio Sono due giorni che ci stanno scalando dalla carta di credito 4000 ISK circa 31 euro per pagamenti di tasse di parcheggio I parcheggi dei vari parchi sono infatti a pagamento e noi abbiamo pagato regolarmente i parcheggi alle macchinette presenti nelle varie location dove sono richiesti tipologia di vettura numero della patente e in alcuni la targa del veicolo La tassa in quasi tutti i parcheggi intorno ai 1000 ISK 8circa 5-6 euro Due di questi parcheggi hanno mandato alla societ di noleggio la tassa che a loro non risulta pagata La societ Icerental ci ha scalato 4000 ISK a fronte di un mancato pagamento di 1000 senza neanche verificare se avessimo pagato o no Si sono limitati a mandarci una mail con allegato l avvenuta transazione ed in allegato la fattura ricevuta dai parcheggi 1000 ISK Abbiamo risposto alla mail allegando la transazione che comprova l avvenuto pagamento chiedendo spiegazioni anche sulla maggiorazione Ci stato risposto che sono spese amministrative 3000 ISK e che dobbiamo essere noi a contattare la ditta che gestisce i parcheggi per ottenere un rimborso da loro Io posso capire se non avessi pagato il parcheggio e accetterei le spese amministrative in quanto utili ad accertare la reale infrazione Invece loro scaricano i soldi dalla carta e ti dicono di aggiustarti con la ditta che gestisce i parcheggi Questa organizzazione un modo legalizzato di prendere soldi dalla gente onesta Mi auguro che questa recensione serva ad altri sventurati che stanno pensando di affittare la macchina da questa compagnia Unica nota positiva l unico motivo valido per attribuire 1 stella la ragazza della compagnia che ha gestito la riconsegna che stata molto gentile ed educata Terrible rental experience Rented a Dacia Duster which was delivered to us with flat tires and without the rear windshield wiper I discovered almost immediately how indispensable it is in Iceland At the first stage I noticed the tires and actually the warning light inside also indicated tire pressure to be checked Obviously I inflated them in a service area However the serious thing happens now a month after the trip For two days we have been deducting 4000 ISK about 31 euros from our credit card for parking tax payments The parking spaces in the various parks are in fact paid and we have regularly paid for the parking spaces at the machines present in the various locations where they are required type of car license number and in some the vehicle license plate The tax is in almost all car parks around 1000 ISK about 5-6 euros Two of these car parks have sent the rental company the fee they think has not been paid The Icerental company deducted 4000 ISK from us for a non-payment of 1000 without even checking whether we had paid or not They simply sent us an email with the transaction attached and the invoice received from the car parks 1000 ISK We responded to the email by attaching the transaction which proves the payment also asking for explanations on the surcharge We were told that these are administrative costs 3000 ISK and that we have to contact the company that manages the car parks to obtain a refund from them I can understand if I hadn t paid for the parking and I would accept the administrative costs as they are useful to ascertain the real infringement Instead they download the money from the card and tell you to settle with the company that manages the parking lots This organization is a legalized way of taking money from honest people I hope this review will be useful to other unfortunate people who are thinking of renting a car from this company The only positive note the only valid reason to give 1 star is the girl from the company who managed the return who was very kind and polite

AVOID THEY DON T DO BASIC SAFTEY CHECKS
DANGEROUS DO NOT USE In hindsight we should ve realised when the 4x4 got stuck in the car park that something was up On the road away from the pick-up we had a couple of warning lights on the dashboard but when we turned the car off and on again they disappeared Later in our trip when doing a U-turn one front wheel slipped off the tarmac and into some snow The four-wheel drive failed and the back two wheels which were on the tarmac didn t move We were stuck there for 3 5hrs and had to pay 850 to be rescued When we rang the company they said we had broken the 4 wheel drive but we d seen the warning lights as soon as we got the vehicle and had literally gotten stuck in the car park I know we should have rang immediately when we saw the warning lights but we just trusted that they d done the internal safety checks This was extremely dangerous and we re lucky we got away as lightly as we did as we could ve easily been involved in a serious accident We ll be reporting them They also charged us another 660 even though we had their premium insurance for a minor scratch on the door When we complained to them they said they ran electronic tests that showed that 4x4 was broken as a result of overheated oil We knew this When we were trying to get out of the snow because our 4x4 didn t work we overheated the oil But the 4x4 was broken before funnily enough they didn t have the records for just before we hired it just the last service

Old cars and poor communication
Good value for money I was given a very used Sizuki Vitara 420 000 km with obvious body damage and internal wear The radiator broke on the second day we were about 1 5 hours from the airport site We waited 5 hours for a replacement car as soon as they saw the car they immediately told us that we would have to compensate for the damage without understanding the problem yet Luckily I had private damage insurance I sent an email to let them know what happened but no one ever responded

Avoid completely unprofessional
In October 2023 we rented a Suzuki Vitara 4x4 with Premium Coverage The reviews we read were very good but our experience was terrible - Arrived at the airport nobody was there we had to call the car rental ourselves and waited almost half an hour before being picked-up in the van there was not enough space for everyone so only the drivers were allowed to enter and passenger had to wait another 45 before being picked up by the drivers- The car was old more than 200 000 the gearshift was malfunctioning on the outside full of dents and scratches- The above would have been forgotten if at the drop-off we weren t charged for a small dent we did not even notice maybe got from someone else in the parking lot with the full excess 753 euros by credit card The procedure is then to send an email to ask which price was actually paid to maybe get a refund You could think we were unlucky but exactly the same thing appende to the couple we were traveling with We rented many cars with big and local rentals and we ve never had such a bad experience Better spend something more with more trustworthy companies to end up saving a lot of money

As we arrived we witnessed an argument
As we arrived we witnessed an argument between the front-desk staff and a customer about demages to thier vehilce The customer presented pictures of the demages already in the vehicle prior to the rental as was allowed to leave This set the tone for our rental as we were concerned that the same would happen to us We took pictures and made videos of the inside and outside the vehicle Our car had a check engine light on and was making weird noises throughout the rental It was unconfrortable and the seats could not be adjusted Overall we did not have a great experiece The van served its purpose of taking us from one place to the other

The car rattles everywhere We had problems with the car electronics all the time The cruise control kept failing The doors didn t close properly The window on the passenger door couldn t be opened because it didn t come up properly or at all The gas cap was so battered that it was extremely difficult to open it Difficulty turning the key to start the car
