Surprised and impressed
I have always read three network being poor and unreliable my brother had their unlimited phone package for many years and he wasn t that satisfied but said its workable so I have always avoided three This week our office broadband went down after engineer visited it works but even slower than a turtle with just one leg we ordered another broadband months ago but they screwed up the order and we just don t have time to wait for another site visit and then a few weeks of wait for installation Come three mobile broadband looked at the price 20 per month unlimited Doubtful about the speed and reliability but desperate enough to try I went for it Ordered over the phone long process as all the T C the salesperson had to read out sent me to sleep anyway all credit checks ordering package etc all set after 30 mins The router sim arrived today via DPD plugged sim in power on and in less than 5 mins there s internet the speed was responsible at around 120Mbps down and 15Mbps up I then took the router to another home a mile away and again around same speed Its only been a half a day but so far I am impressed by how simple it is lets just hope the speed will stay constant and reliable when I take the router to the office on Tuesday I would write another review after a week The only thing I wish three can do better is the sim slot the sim can be inserted wrong but will still go all the way in so you can t really tell if you got it right or not plus the nano sim slot is tiny so you may need some time to bring it back out again

I have been testing mobile broadband
I have been testing mobile broadband for about three years as I am always looking for the best solutions to issues I live in a flat in London and only had access to copper wired telephone for internet until Telewest Virgin Media agreed to wire-up the whole estate 200 flats Virgin Media gave access to landline telephone TV the estate bans antennas and internet In recent years I had upgraded to Small Business Broadband at 1GB included in the TV package Sky Films and Sport F1only plus the landline Total for the month over 160 per month As most of the calls on the landline were from scammers and most of legitimate calls were on my mobile plus I was paying a monthly fee for the line I hardly used I terminated my landline contract At the same time I realised I was not watching the extra packages on the Virgin TV package I was paying for and I could watch the rest on Freeview at no cost apart from the equipment I cancelled the TV package On a roll I looked at mobile broadband and chose Three as they are a data company and not a telephone company as other mobile service providers Three at this stage only offered 4G service I installed their modem router 4G box but could not find a strong reliable signal Reviewers here have said that Three support like most other service providers was not good I concur but having been working for computer manufacturers since the 1960 s been involved with data transmission and modems since the early 1980 s plus being a radio ham I was not going to be fobbed-off with the standard answer of switch off and on again or we will send you a new SIM card I threatened them with the service was not fit for purpose and senior engineers agreed to end the contract and for me to keep the modem When 5G came I checked the service area and I was just outside their 5G area But I obtained a secondhand router used my mobile phone SIM card and tested and found one spot where I got a strong signal I purchased an unlimited Three data card got the latest 5G router CEX and tested for a couple of months Great That led me to cancelling Virgin Broadband 62 per month and now using Three Broadband I have usually 10 plus Wi-Fi devices connected plus wired devices Mac s Apple TV Amazon Cube TV connected by Firewalla Gold and Netgear splitters and have very little issues Yes sometimes the speed may drop depending on weather and other users Moral is check your area for signal strength and coverage plus your own dwelling for a suitable spot to house the Three router and do not take Three s sales people s patter Three offers a test period on their Broadband offering Please note it was not Three s problem apart from not having the initial 4G coverage that I rejected my initial attempt so much so that I installed Three s 4G broadband at friends and vulnerable peoples homes with success I m a happy bunny and saved myself and others a lot of money

New customer
I ve just signed up to 3 broadband and it all went through smoothly I m not a gamer so cannot comment but it suits my needs For the fact it was so easy to set up no fiddling about or having to have someone in to install I cannot fault it

Excellent service if you re aware of the limitations
I have been waiting two months from the date of order for BT to connect my house in Twickenham and they kept pushing the engineer date back I thought I d give Three 5g Broadband a shot after seeing an advert on the Tube The router arrived the next day I plugged it in and WOW I had 900 mbps WiFi all over my house within 24 hours of ordering For 10 a month for the first six months and then 20 thereafter This is half the price of the BT fibre package and over 10 times the speed The 5G hub has two ethernet sockets so I have extended a cable out to my shed office and now have near gigabit broadband there too It is vital that you find the sweet spot in your home and that to get the best speeds you place the hub on a windowsill so you may need an extension power lead as the provided lead is annoyingly short I live in central Twickenham and right by masts on a tall building so admittedly I am in a prime location for this service That said my experience has been amazing and I ve cancelled BT Despite the high download speeds I would not recommend this service if you want to use cloud gaming services as the latency is higher than a fully wired connection But that is a very specific use case and one that won t effect many users

5G Hub -exceeded expectations
Almost didn t go through with a subscription to Three s 5G Hub after seeing all of the bad reviews here But figured it was worth a shot as they do have a 14 day cooling off period where cancellation is allowed For me it was the best decision and I m so content with it I get on average 120mbps down and 12mbps up This has been steady over the week I ve had the hub so far At the current deal of 10 month for 6 months and then up to 20 month it s very good value compared to other broadband options I was previously paying far more for a significantly slower broadband with Sky If you re umm ing and arr ing I would advise to give it a shot and don t be too discouraged by the negative reviews on here I needed to cut down on monthly costs but still required a fast broadband service This was perfect and could potentially be great for many others too Good luck

Genuinely really good internet
So we had been with Now Broadband for the past 1 5 years and our experience has been horrible - high pings extremely low download upload speeds despite supposed guaranteed download spends of 67mb so a very miserable experience We decided to take out Three s 5G broadband - admittedly slightly nervous given the bad reviews on here However figured that since our iPhones get Amazon speeds on 5G that the broadband should be equally good Well I m disappointed I didn t take out Three s 5G broadband sooner Internet speeds have been fast consistent and we haven t experience any issues We ve had the internet going for about two weeks now and it is have had consistently amazing speeds Running Speedtests daily and at different times we have seen average speeds of Download 532mb a second Upload 266mb a second As I said these are average consistent speeds We have seen some drops depending on time of day but nothing massive perhaps a 50-75mb drop But given the speeds we were getting from our previous provider this is nothing to complain about So overall if you live in a good area and your mobile phone gets good 5G coverage you d probably get good speeds with 5G broadband also Just remember to test placement of the router as that can really help 5 star internet
