As with many reviewers I have travelled with Wendy Wu on 3 previous occasions and have loved the tours In January I attended the holiday show in Manchester and spoke to the staff there I wanted an add on to the holiday and was assured this could happen and paid a deposit Hanna got back to me a couple of times and my holiday was sorted including everything I wanted I also paid for an additional flight I was reminded to pay and paid the remaining amount on 15th April received a confirmation on 16th and then my holiday was cancelled on 18th This holiday cost over 20 000 I was then informed that their systems couldn t pay me back immediately as it was too much I had to ring the company and I have received the full amount back This was my holiday of a lifetime I have received no further contact or apology I am extremely disappointed that a company I trusted should behave in such a way

DO NOT TRAVEL TO JAPAN WITH WENDY WU
Having travelled extensively and globally with 3 other tour companies I am extremely disappointed to record that in comparison Wendy Wu failed on many fronts to live up to their own marketing blurb Upon arrival at the first destination hotel in financial district we were informed that check in was 3 pm It was 12 noon and after 22 hours of travelling plus 9 hours time difference we were exhausted No representative on site We finally obtained room after negotiating an early check in fee The standard of food was appalling throughout the trip Food was repeatedly on the table upon arrival at the venues and clearly had been there for some time Generally it consisted of warm rice warm or cold miso soup bland assorted pickles and tofu In short the standard was far from what one would expect for 7000 Upon arrival at one hotel at 5 00 we were told dinner was 5 30 I have not had dinner at that time since I was 6 years old Long coach trips with no water provided no free time for relaxing or shopping and a large group of 28 Tour guides English was poor and I could continue Enough to say it was the worst holiday I have ever had could not wait to get home and what a rip off was so looking forward to Japan what a shame Wish I had read the reviews before I went We have contacted Wendy Wu who offered 200 off next trip as if I would ever travel with them again

Jewels of Japan - what a waste of money
Jewels of Japan - March 2024 Worst tour we ve ever been on Chaotic tour from start to finish Coach left twice without all the passengers and had to go back to pick up Really poorly organised Our guide had no idea how to be a guide and was totally oblivious to the expectations of people who were on the tour The guide didn t know the basics such as how to get tickets for attractions so there was lots of waiting around and constant changing of plans and timing causing lots of confusion Most frustratingly for us we learned nothing - guide gave no information about the places we visited history the food we were eating etc We were certainly not immersed in the culture and history as promised in the brochure The audio equipment which was issued with the expectation that there would be information about the places visited was for decoration only They were used once during the whole tour The only way we learned anything was to listen in to other tours We were pretty much dropped off at a location and left to make our own way round and learn what we could for ourselves This was certainly not the premium tour advertised and represented very poor value for money We would never go on another tour with Wendy Wu

Unfortunately 0 is not an option
Unfortunately 0 is not an option They changed the flights which meant an extra 8 hours travelling Would not give any refund after we cancelled either Hard to justify 700 deposit when no flights were booked no hotels were booked Avoid them at all costs many others that are better

Japan route march not cultural
Japan Worst trip I ave ever experienced after many years of travel Economy flight Cathay Pacific so cramped I am 5 ft and 120 lbs Could hardly move The Japanese guide lost 4 clients because she route marched not waiting to indicate the way Her English very patchy Nice woman but not up to looking after a mixed ability group Repetitious itinerary temple or garden I hour in each After hours of travel Food poor and not fresh We all longed for something unpickled Worst if you are vegetarian I have seen a lot yet really have seen nothing The group of people mostly Australian could not have been nicer thank goodness My advice is find another tour operator who wants you to understand the food and the culture not rush you from one end of Japan to the other

Really poor performance and poor customer service
We contacted Wendy Wu and a competitor to ask them to put together a tailor made programme for a 2-3 week trip to Japan We provided a list of cities towns we wanted to visit notification about a food related health issue and a profile of our experience in Asia Wendy Wu took several days to even respond and then only asked 2 questions when would we like to travel and what airport did we want to use - they didn t ask to have a phone call to explore our expectations or check the health issue Several days later we received an email containing what was clearly a very generic cut paste itinerary proposal that clearly was not tailor-made or had much time spent on it - it also quoted a huge cost but no explanation as to what I was getting for the money The competitor Inside Japan also responded and it was significantly better - they had an hour s call with us to understand our needs made some really good suggestions and put together a detailed personalised itinerary AND came in about 40 cheaper with an extra weeks holiday and more activities e g Sumo I did email Wendy Wu including their CEO to highlight how poorly they had managed our enquiry but received no response at all Our view is that Wendy Wu really doesn t do what they say on their marketing material and are not customer focussed at all - if they can t get it right when attracting new business then what hope do you have if there are issues once they have your money If you are considering Wendy Wu for Japan then DON T and look at Inside Japan

We booked Wendy Wu In Pursuit of Panda Tour on 15 10 24 suppose to start tour in 9 3 25 Since joining the tour we found ourselves under extreme stress from Oct 24 to Jan 2025 in Pursuit of China Entry with Wendy Wu instead They promised to customers they have Visa Dept to handle Chinese Entry process Do not trust them they only able to handle standard British born with British Passport cases They have no expertise in obtaining China entry for other nationals After I paid deposit I found out they used DJB to process all customers Chinese entry applications and washed their hands off visa application responsibility Wendy Wu asked us for 5 500 full payment in Dec 24 besides the flying time is actually 7 full days tour and only process our China entry documents in Jan 25 DJB confirmed they had completed my visa application for me in Jan 25 and I had given them all my documents including my expired Home Return card as I was born in HK but has British Passport I struggled in Freezing cold weather paid peak time train fare to London to meet DJB staff on the 9 1 25 they have set appointment time between 10 to 10 30 am daily at Chinese Visa office and they submitted my application with me My visa application was rejected as they had gone through the wrong route with my application DJB then told me Chinese visa office said I had to go to Chinese Embassy instead for an interview to obtain entry documents to China DJB staff said that process could takes months no guaranteed when Chinese Embassy will reply I then read through small print in Wendy Wu Tours Terms and Conditions refund policy and had no options but called Wendy Wu on 10 1 25 to cancelled the tour to rescue 70 of our tour money Wendy Wu company encouraged us to stay with the tour despite they could not guarantee we could get a reply with Chinese Embassy in time for us to fly to HK by 28 2 25 They know full well if we further delay cancelling the tour we would completely lost our full tour money to them By cancelling the tour the next day after the visa application was rejected we already lost 1 640 to Wendy Wu 30 due to only their inedquancy to sort out our paper work for the tour We had since written 8 complaints letters to Wendy Wu they replied by hiding behind their terms and conditions to confirm they entitled to our 1 640 tour fee but unable to tell us what they had spent our money on as they had not gave us any evidence of having to book air tickets hotels under our names DJB visa office confirmed to us they had not been paid by Wendy Wu tour despite submitting visa applications on our behalf in Jan 2025 Without receiving payment from Wendy Wu Tours DJB visa office accepted their responsibility and refunded me train fare for the wasted journey to meet them at the China Visa office on the 9 1 25 My husband booked a whole month annual leave in March 2025 Wendy Wu Tour company basically robbed us our tour money our dream China Tour our time from Oct 24 to Jan 25 leaving us with less money and time to rescue an alternative holiday in March 2025 We like to share our painful experiences to warn anyone not to fall into the trap there are plenty more Asian Tours companies in UK if you do not need to waste your money and valuable time Had we went ahead with Wendy Wu expensive 7 days tours they expected us to manage all our own luggages daily while travelling on and off trains throughout the tour despite we told them we are at our mid 60 and 70 No wonder other customers also complained in Trust Pilot website that they round up matching through their tour and found their tour guide loosing a few tour members We could not trust this tour company any more They robbed us a pair of pensioners savings of 1 640 and our dream China holiday of our life time This company do not treat their customers well could not retain their customers and now are advertising their business everywhere sending us frequent adverts emails leaflets flooding our letter box and big banners and tour brochures displayed in our local garden centres we found ourselves constantly being reminded of our painful experiences with Wendy Wu Tours It is ongoing mental torture for their ex customers who had already lost so much with Wendy Wu Tours
