I prepaid for car hire at Fuerteventura

I prepaid for car hire at Fuerteventura airport with Europcar through Holiday Extras My flight was late arriving at Fuerteventura I presented myself at the Europcar desk to be told my car had been given to another customer due to my late arrival I was offered another car and charged the difference in cost I argued the point that my hire had already been paid for and therefor should have been held whatever My thoughts fell on deaf ears Due to me having a fair drive to the south of the Island i had no choice but to accept Europcar s offer I have traveled alone many times before and never had any issues such as this I have tried to contact Holiday Extras and Europcar with no forthcoming communication Not good customer service

No reply at all

Rented car in Bath After four hour drive brakes were squealing Eurocar arranged mechanic to change brakes the following day but we lost use of the car for a day Have since contacted customer service repeatedly as well as direct phone call to rental office in Bath to get refund for one day s use and no reply at all from anyone Has been almost two months now Terrible customer service

Won t be using again due to hidden charges

Won t be using again Hired from Manchester airport had to take bus to get to rental village which was a pain Wish I d paid for meet and greet as bus took ages to come No queue at counter and helpful staff but got stung for premium rental location charge after I had returned car which was 40 and hidden in small print Wasn t explained openly to me m suddenly appeared in bank statement- and ridiculous that an off airport location is subject to this I rent cars regularly around world and this is a new one on me Just another way to screw money out of you Not impressed

Truly awful experience kept promising a vehicle would be available and delivered to my home 5 days later no car I gave up and cancelled horrendous customer service I Truly hope I never have to have anything to do with this company again

Caution excessive charges if going from the UK to Eire

We hired a car via booking com from Belfast International Airport We were going to be going into the Republic of Ireland so expected an addition change Using other car hire companies previously I was expecting to pay around 35 Eurocar charged 160 Looking at their website it states 75 to go from the UK to the Republic I can t get an answer how they got to 160 The car itself was very good

Poor Communication

When the car arrived at my home the ignition fob was not working properly and I had to replace the battery at my own expense The car was returned with an almost full tank of fuel but they are still trying to take money out of my account Twice I rang them opertives grasp of English is poor and twice I was promised that my complaint would be acknowledged Their customer service is very poor UNLESS dealing with a problem with the car while you are using it then they are helpful

Trying to get a duplicate payment refunded is like pulling teeth

Our rental went very smoothly BUT we re currently have been trying to get a measly 19 99 refunded by them for about 10 weeks now We ve made a formal complaint which they barely acknowledged Chasing emails from us pretty much go unanswered The 19 99 was paid twice and despite seeing evidence of the double payment their initial response was that they hadn t taken the payment twice Rental great but the customer service is absolutely abysmal

Shockingly poor online checkin experience

The worst pre-checkin process I ve experienced so far from a car hire company Booked a car via expedia who then send me a link to complete check in via the europcar site I m in the UK I register on the UK site The checkin then fails because expedia directs me to the US site which then rejects me because it knows I have a UK accounts so complains it s been registered under a different identity It s the same email address therefore it s the same person Kindly fix your IT Then I go through the online validation process which involves a laptop scanning QR codes continuing on a mobile taking pictures of originals not scanned copies and a picture of me then fails for an unspecified error with no option to try again I don t have this time to waste and don t have this issue with other car hire providers I should only have to register my passport and driving licence with you ONCE not PER HIRE and then supply you with an updated driving code if needed KEEP IT SIMPLE

Very poor customer service who cant seem to help

In the last month I have had 2 rentals from Europcar the first one I sourced via Expedia and paid Expedia for the rental when I got to the desk in gatwick airport to pick the car i had booked and paid for the rep said there was no payment and asked me to pay again before taking the car The second rental pickup yesterday 30 1 2025 I ordered a Tesla Model 3 when driving the replacement car back I realised the heating was not working I reported this straightaway on Friday night about 8 00pm the person I spoke to was not sure what to do but said i should get in touch with the branch i tried but there seems to be no way to do that i then spoke to another europcar rep this morning at 8 00am and they said they would get in touch with the branch to sort out a replacement car I then spoke to them again at 11 00 as i need to know what was going on and to start my journey they did know how to help me but said the branch would get in touch Its now 12 10pm and still nothing These rental companies should be looked into there customer service is very poor and from my experiance they are ripping people off charging twice and not helping to rectify any problems

Booked online to pick up car from

Booked online to pick up car from Toulouse but didn t have the card I booked on was on Apple Pay so the booking had to be cancelled and replaced for the card I had with me I signed the agreement thinking it was a like for like but when the final invoice was debited the amount was much more than my online booking The new booking included premium protection and roadside assistance which I had not originally requestedRequested a refund but was declined I travel to France often so now will use a different rental company
