There is still lack of communication

The instructors for the residential courses are superb Their knowledge of their subjects is genuinely extraordinary and their use of humour makes the modules easier to digest and makes the long days on the courses easier to cope with They make sure they understand our individual job roles and try to pitch the course content where possible so it is relevant to our jobs The reason I couldn t award more than 3 stars though is that in the months between the courses there are simply dozens of hours of videos from a 3rd-party website to watch in an entirely passive process which is in no way helpful to embedding information in your memory especially on new concepts which are often abstract and packed with new vocabulary and a sea of acronyms My workplace has been great in giving me lots of projects to do to increase my skills and awareness of the company s operations as a whole and my managers make me feel empowered to tackle tasks which affect the whole company In summary the residential training is truly great and the instructors are brilliant the pre-course learning resources in between are not though and are truly a joyless and unrewarding slog but if you get a good company to work for in your apprenticeship you should be fine

it was rushed

Training was supposed to be for 3 days but less break and more content and instructor finished the course in 2 days making hard for listeners to grasp the knowledge 3rd day was just Q A which only lasted for 1 hour so the session ended at 10 00 am Test papers should have discussed more Instructor was good but sometime it felt like he was also confused with the question in test papper

The training provided was great but I am still awaiting my Exam Token Other than that will definitely be using this platform in the near future

Good boot camp with experienced trainer

Course was very good and detailed but it was very intense and some areas seemed a tad rushed

The trainer on the residential course Gareth was excellent throughout and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful applying the learning to our real-life job roles He kept the necessarily more dry aspects of the content such as the legal and regulatory terms light with his sense of humour and introduced us to a number of useful resources that were new to us We were all encouraged to share our own experiences and thoughts on each topic and given the chance to test our understanding of the new material These 3 days with Gareth were infintely more helpful and relevant than the endless hours of generic videos we had been obliged to watch for 4 months previously with no genuine training input from Firebrand The only negative part of the training course was in the final assessment itself where a sea of acronyms had been used as the multiple choice answers instead of the real words for the vocabulary we had learned and used in those 3 days Acronyms are meant to be a helpful memory aid abbreviation to things we know well but when the knowledge is still new and we have been learning the new technical vocabulary very recently simple placing dozens acronyms everywhere instead of the real words simply means that the result will not be an accurate reflection of how much of the technical vocabulary we truly understand and can apply Real words in future or both alongside each other would be much more helpful in terms of ensuring our long-term memory of these terms and their functions The venue itself was excellent - the free tea coffee water and soft drinks as well as sweets and fruit in the training centre ensured we were able to remain refreshed at all times and the regular breaks made it easier to process the course information

I passed the exam What it all boils down to is that I passed The pass rate for my Certification was 50 of those who took it at the same time as me with 50 of the course choosing for a number of reasons to take the test later The facilities and staff at Firebrand Wyboston Lakes were top-notch Couldn t fault the accommodation food and environment My onboarding was smooth and the pricing provided was matched that from other providers making it easier to obtain approval for the spend Firebrand are AFAIK the only providers to offer the test at the end of the course and having done this I d recommend this approach The training space and facilities were warm tidy and well-provisioned with the exception of the toilets that could do with a refurbishment Coffee soft drinks and sweets fruit were always available A little variety on the snacks however would be appreciated Our course was VERY intensive We spent 10 hours a day in the classroom for basically 5 days Plus revision and test questions overnight made it an incredibly tiring course The chalk and talk approach may make this challenging for some to stay engaged with but copious note-taking helped me stay focused Our trainer was incredibly knowledgeable perhaps biased too much to one domain leaving some domains poorly covered which may present gaps for those very new to this area But the information provided helped me prepare for the exam much faster than if I d been doing it alone To improve I d like to see consideration given to varying the style of delivery greater sensitivity to everyone s needs improved toilet facilities and a more even coverage of the 8 domains
