Just back from a 10 day stay in the
Just back from a 10 day stay in the Algarve We didn t have a car booked as we considered not getting one for this trip But when we arrived into Faro we decided we would hire one There was nobody in Sixt when I walked in there It was about 9 30am or so I got served right away A nice young guy who was extremely pleasant Absolutely no pressure at all with any add-ons He wrote down the price of 3 options I chose one of them which was the middle price No pressure to pay any more There were 4 of us and we had a double buggy so he offered to show me cars in that category and look at the boots to see which suited me best for storing the double buggy I was then offered to pay the excess which I declined and there was no further mention of it I required a booster seat and a baby seat I was going to be charged 10 per day for the baby seat which I refused to pay He said he couldn t change the price as it is an external company they used for the seats not sure if he was lying but he advised me to drive the short 5 mins into Faro to the large shopping centre and buy a baby car seat in the Jumbo store for 35 I m glad he did as I would have left and tried a different company We went to Jumbo and bought one for 38 and the booster seat was something like 7 I think The return process was extremely smooth Drove the car in and a guy gave a very quick inspection There were a few scuff marks just outside the boot presumably from the buggy wheels rubbing off it when inserting and removing from the boot There was also some sand in the boot and on the ground by some of the seats There was no mention of any issue with this The guy even offered to get us a trolley for the luggage and did get us one when we accepted We left the car seat and booster with them as we couldn t bring them home I ve no doubt they will rent these out to the next customers that require them Overall I was very happy with the service and would use them again There were definitely cheaper options there I had researched some of the companies before the holiday but those were the typical ones that give you a car for a cheap price but you get stung by them on return by them finding a known hidden scratch and charging you for that I ll closely keep an eye on my bank account to make sure I don t get any sneaky charges over the next year or so based on reading some of the other reviews

A very pleasant first experience of car hire with Sixt
I had a pleasant first experience of using Sixt for my car hire at Faro airport earlier this month Arriving at their office you take a ticket from a machine by the door and go to one of the three staffed desks when the number on your ticket is displayed so no need to stand waiting in a queue It took 25 minutes for my number to come up which is longer than I would have liked but as it was mid-afternoon and fairly busy at the time not too unreasonable The staff member who dealt with my car hire was polite spoke good english and was not overly pushy trying to sell me excess insurance cover it would have cost as much as the car hire after I declined it because I already have my own excess cover I also turned down paying 20 upfront for potential road tolls and the activation of the car s electronic toll road transponder as I knew I wouldn t need to use any toll roads during my holiday I was also offered the option to change my booking from a full to full fuel tank policy to a full to empty fuel policy where I could prepay for a full tank of fuel and return it as empty as I dare Yet again I politely declined the offer as I knew I was highly unlikely to use more than half a tank at most before the end of my holiday As I booked my October car hire via Expedia during a Sixt Spring sale I only paid just over 5 a day for an economy class car which was excellent value for money For that I received an almost new Volkswagen Polo in very good condition with less than 10K kilometers on the clock Although the insurance excess was 960 Sixt only held not charged 300 against my credit card for the duration of my hire which meant I had no credit card foreign currency transaction fees to pay either Returning the car in the evening at the end of my holiday was also straightforward and took no more than 5 minutes with the car checking staff member from the key return kiosk handing me the signed paperwork I needed as proof I had returned the car in the same condition I had received it Based on this experience I would have no concerns using Sixt for my car hire again

Good explanation of scratch charging system at Ponta Delgada airport
Rented a Renault Clio for a week from Ponte Delgada airport Sao Miguel Azores For the first time ever I ve rented cars in various countries about 15 times I was given a clear explanation of what sort of scratches they would charge for He said that they only charge for scratches over 5 cm long and if you can feel them with your finger They also don t charge for scratches on the bit of the boot that your luggage might scratch or if you add scratches to where there already was one This saves a lot of confusion and unnecessary photographs and worrying To be honest I returned it pretty dirty and I had actually added a couple of scratches to the wheel rim but as there was already one there it didn t matter The guy didn t mind at all and was very friendly There s another car rental company here that s half of the price of all the others so I assume that their business model is simply to get money from repeatedly charging for the same scratches but that definitely doesn t seem to be the case with Sixt Also the car was fine

Car hire at Sixt Faro Airport
On the Sixt web we rented a Renault Megane for 14 days starting November 17th 2018 Price 132 Pick up Faro Airport Upon arrival we were upgraded to an Audi 3 for free The staff tried to sell us extra insurances we said no thank you and no more fuss about that A deposit of 300 was reserved on our MasterCard The reservation was cancelled 4 days after return of the car A deposit of 75 was reserved for road toll As the toll system is not on line we had to wait 18 days before the reservation was cancelled At the car return Sixt staff made a careful and fair examination No problems concerning minor scratches less than 5 cm They found no important scratches or other damage The return formalities took less than 10 minutes And no claims later We had from friends heard about many problems with the leasing of cars in Portugal and Spain Companies demanding extra assurances before car pick and claims about damages long time after the car return We experienced nothing of that kind with Sixt at Faro Airport We can fully recommend Sixt at Faro Airport

Great service and overall top experience with Sixt Portugal Very satisfied The car was booked via Sixt web site picked up from Faro airport and returned at Porto airport 5 days later Price we ve booked was the price we ve paid No tricks no small letters of disclaimer no hidden costs a contract in English The car was prepared by a polite and patient customer service attendant and returned 5 days later to another even more professional customer service attendant who checked everything a protocol that the car was all right was signed I can compare this experience with Goldcar which was completely opposite experience Customer service was rude fees and payments we did not want keys dropped in a letter box without even seeing the car by customer service during the day time contract in spanish which we did nt understand as I say quite the opposite experience as with Sixt

I had the pleasure to rent a car through SIXT Good service both when we picked up the car in Porto and again as we returned it in Faro We forgot same books in the car and they where very helpfull in that matter

Excellent experience
After reading Trustpilot reviews I had doubts about using Sixt in Portugal However they proved to be excellent I picked-up a nearly new Ibiza from Lisbon returned it to Faro both airport-based offices and the whole check-out check-in went smoothly The car had a full tank some minor scratches all duly noted on the form and was slightly larger than the car ordered There was no insurance hard sell as we have our own hire car policy and the policy regarding the autoroute transponder was clearly explained Excellent price good car swift and reliable invoicing recommended
