Both times I have visited Iceland

Both times I have visited Iceland I have used Blue car rental The shuttle is very quick and easy process and when you arrive at the counter to pick up your car keys the staff are all very friendly and helpful My latest trip I had a nightmare as I misread the car parking signs which meant my rental car was locked in so was unable to drop off the car rental After a pricey taxi ride to the airport I had to inform Blue that I have left the car in a parking garage Blue replied very quickly to me telling me not to worry and that they would collect the vehicle as a good will gesture which was very nice of them all emails I sent to Blue the responses was very quick and supportive I highly recommend Blue Car Rental as they go above and beyond and all their staff are really nice and friendly Rental price are also very good and the vehicles you get are clean and in good condition Best rental company by a mile

Don t need to consider others

Car rental companies are normally a pain and you are uncertain if there are additional cost Also experienced a lot of aggressive upsell when picking up the car Blue Car Rental was just how you want it to be Great service no extras easy and fast I will for sure only use them in the future

Harrassment and Threats

We rented a 4x4 Dacia Duster with snow tires and full insurance with liability waiver to be on the safe side We were driving on the ring road on a snowy day very slowly and carefully The car started to skate and fell off the road We called Blue Car s line and explained the situation First thing they said was that nothing was covered by insurance They told us that a tow truck would cost around 1000 and recommended us to ask for help on the road and try to push the car back to the road We did this under extreme weather conditions without success We called Blue Car again but they didn t answer We called 112 who transfered us to the Police and then to Blue Car We said that we couldn t move the car and it was getting more and more stuck in the ice They called the tow truck Didn t mention any payment this time which we assumed was due to the fact that the Police was involved They said that the tow truck would take 1 1 5 hours It took 2 5 hours It was extremely difficult for the guy to take the car out and we almost freezed to death outside When he finally did it he told us that we would have to pay him around 700 We called Blue Car again and asked them to indicate where that was excluded in our Rental agreeement The Lady on the phone just kept repeating that it was excluded But we wanted to know why After insisting a lot she told us that she would call us back in 1 minute We waited 10 minutes and nothing We called them again It didn t seem that anyone was looking for our answer And they told us to wait again Finally they said that the exclusion was in paragraph j related to driving off the road BUT OF COURSE WE WERE NOT DRIVING OFF THE ROAD WE WERE DRIVING ON THE MAIN ROAD AND FELL OFF ROAD DUE TO THE WHEATHER CONDITIONS We explained this to them and the guy from the tow truck did too After a long conversation in Icelandish Blue Car finally told us that they would pay for the tow We thought that the situation was handled but when we delivered the car they immediately asked us to pay for the tow truck because customer refused to pay THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED After a long discussion Blue Car accepted to pay for the tow truck But this does not end here afterwards they went to check the car and told us that it had damage underneath which was not covered by insurance So they told us you have 2 options either you pay 700 for the tow or we send the car to repair which will cost you much more at least around 2500 Of course we had a plane to catch in a few hours and couldn t wait for a budget to repair the car This is very convenient on their side So basically we were THREATENED to pay for a tow which was covered by our insurance It goes without saying that we were treated in a very unpolite manner and really felt HARRASSED by Blue Car s staff We Will do everything within our power to make sure that there Will be consequences out of this situation

Take pictures of every little scratch when you take the car You will be charged extra at the end 700 euros for a small scratch

RUDE

We used Blue Car Rental for our road trip in Iceland after a instagram recommendation from Kyana I must say this is the worst car rental experience I have even had in my life This is one of the only car rental companies not located inside of the Kef airport and the shuttle does NOT run 24 7 which is a topic I will return to Once we were shuttled to the rental car station we checked in and waited for over 10 minutes for our name to be called Keep in mind there was 5 workers and only one other couple be checked in They were all sitting there on their phones The guy at the counter called our name just to inform us we had keypad access to the keys but did not inform us of where that was It was outside around the corner in the back which is not directed by signage We receive the keys and find out vehicle which is the absolute worst conditioned car in their lot The car s tire rims were completely rusted the windshield had extensive damage and the car had scrapes and scratches EVERYWHERE Compared to every other car in the lot ours was in the worst condition We went to go ask for the same exact car in better condition and the lady rudely told us we will not give you a new car just because it looks better well what do you know we took this car and got a flat tire We paid over 1200 for the car in total including roadside assistance but when I called the company to get someone out to help us they hung up on me My husband thankfully was strong enough to muster the RUSTED lugnuts off and change the tire with the spare Also beware that all of the cars are manual and they did not even give me the option when I booked online otherwise I would have paid extra for manual but even so they need to give this as an option OR inform customers they are receiving a manual Thankfully my husband knew how to drive stick but I do not and if it was an emergency we would be stuck When we returned the car we were informed the 3 mile shuttle was not running Again three workers present on their phone and not a single one offered to drive us because the weather was horrible There was 55 mph winds and it was 40 degrees however we had to walk on the busy road no sidewalks Overall these people are RUDE and do not know how to run a business Spend the extra money and do yourself a favor Rent anywhere but here

Filled my car at the BP on the airport before handing in Of course they billed me fuel with extra costs etc Don t go there

Utter shambles Avoid

We booked through Reykjavik cars a booking agent and ended up with Blue Car Rental in May 2022 We paid our 10 deposit and had our confirmation come through straight away The following day we received an email stating that the prices were incorrect on the website when we booked so they actually couldn t fulfill our order They offered a refund or a 10 discount from their updated price list We responded explaining that we would like to continue with the order at the price originally agreed What followed was a series of emails in a thread with other customers details We received updates on other customers who have had the same issue and information about adjustments to their upcoming orders We received no response to our email after several chases over the course of a week and counting We requested to have our email removed from the email thread shared with other effected customers for confirmation of our deposit being refunded and several chases on our cancellation confirmation but have received nothing to date We get the impression that this company is run by a severely understaffed workforce potentially of one who knows and is an unable to operate effectively The fact that there are clear data breach issues here too doesn t instill any confidence If they were a UK business I would have reported them by now Be very wary avoid

Worst rental company I have used No invoice was ever send and still waiting for my deposit to be refunded Avoid this rental company at all costs
