Watch out for the Extra costs

The rental process was easy And we thought we had full protection for that is what we paid for however while driving twice the vehicle started having mechanical problems to the point we thought we were not going to make our destination in very bad weather Thankfully we made it I contacted the company they sent a mechanic out to hotel to look at the car He drove it around the parking lot said he saw nothing wrong and was done We drove it again and after about two hours the car struggled again We returned the car they charged us extra of 250 for the mechanic Said we weren t covered Paid over 1200 for the week in the car rental to ensure we had coverage They are not upfront that all costs are provided From what I understand if we were on the side of the road then it would have been covered I had them document the information because there is something wrong with the vehicle but it took them over two weeks to get back with me And nothing was done I say stay away

Refused road assistant service

We rented a used Dacia Duster for 5days with road side assistant waiver We stock on the road at 1am in the snow The road was clear we drove under the speed limit Road conditions checked no difficult driving no snow no weather alarts We called them for road assistant The customer service said no one will come to help us They send out an email email said no service 24-25 December We was on the road on 26th December Their 24 hour emergency line does not employ overly polite individuals After they refused to help us we contact 112 In 10minutes another road service assistant help us out we paid off 45000KR This amount the car rental company should covered as we bought the road side assistant waiver My 8years old son was in the car too who was terrified Their 24hour road assistant refuse to give us any help or information no refunds Answer from them maybe tomorrow someone will come understand no one help stay where we are This is incredible unacceptable

I rented a car 4x4 Dacia Duster from Blue Car Rental last June 2019 for a family summer vacation which lasted 9 days I got a totally full insurance car I had a very bad experience with the treatment I received from both the company and the employees So you should expect a bad treatment throughout your rental experience with them as well FCO

Not honest company

Everything was well until the drop off At the drop-off we were disappointed because the car check was kind of a joke We were told that the car was damaged but as soon as we took out our phones from our pockets to show pictures we had taken of the car at the pickup the girl immediately said Oh no all good all good sorry without even checking our pictures or her paperwork This means that if we hadn t had enough experience traveling and hadn t taken pictures as proof Blue Rental Car would have tried to make us pay for imaginary damage Great

Decent experience w problems

Decent experience Booking was seamless and they allow you on all F roads as long as you book an appropriate vehicle Our vehicle was in poor condition because I bought the 0 deductible insurance I wonder and the gas gauge did not work plus the paid for gps was not included We did get the gps after I insisted it be handed over Gas gauge was a lost cause which we discovered 400 kilometers into our trip Their 24 hour emergency line does not employ overly polite individuals One tire lost pressure during our trip and was a problem Finding air was relatively easy I will say I received a decent refund after our return for the hassle I have to give them credit for that But my guess is they rented it right back out A gas gauge just doesn t completely break like that and I can t believe I was the first to complain

Car had a few small scratches

Car had a few small scratches crack in windshield but I was told it is in perfect condition Tank was not full as is usual and says so when reserving the car and this fact was not pointed to me Better check the car thoroughly when picking it up and give immediate feedback otherwise you may have to pay for other s faults Personnel was friendly and corrected the faults when pointed out

Bad Customer service on arrival which ruined what would have been otherwise a good car hire process

The website is easy to use competitively priced car hire and if picking up in Reykavic it s easy to find however I don t know if we were unlucky or the girl who served us was having a bad day but she was rude and unhelpful She told us that we had to collect the key from the hatch and pointed to the back of the building I had advance paid etc Off we went but after a few try s realised the code for the key box didn t work But she wouldn t have it and begrudgingly let us in through the office after sending us back out side several times No sorry or apologies or you are my customer please let me assist you This left a sour taste and for that reason I wouldn t use or recommend Blue car rental It was freezing outside she could have so easily let us in the room where the key box was to the girl in question we were an inconvenience I did not get her name which was a mistake It was Friday 9 February at 1030 am So if Blue car rental read this they will know who she is Disappointing

Overall good experience

We did a lot of research before booking with Blue Car Rental I loved the fact that you could select the option to pay on arrival or upfront We selected upfront as it was slightly cheaper plus you could cancel 24 hours before your collection for a full refund So this made sense for us as we still needed negative Covid tests to fly so if our plans changed we knew we could get a refund We selected a 4x4 due to the time of year and we had a Toyota Rav4 as it came with free GPS The negative part of this review was that the GPS was so out of date we ended up using our phone So this was just a bit pointless and a shame If we tried to enter a destination it was adding on an extra 40 to 50 minutes in one case 2 hours to our journey time So I feel that they do need to sort this out and you should be aware that you may end up using your phone anyway If you want to connect your phone to the in car system you can but only via bluetooth I don t think the car models are new enough to have apple play or auto android installed on them So don t expect anything fancy It is an outdated GPS system The collection of the car was simple we went for the contactless option and collected our keys from the box This was easy We had an email upon landing at the airport with instructions and a code We inspected the car as Blue actually recommended taking photos a video prior in case any scratches dents etc had been missed To be safe we actually took out all of the insurances for gravel sand protection etc The only other negative for this review is that there were two large chips in the windscreen and we had not received our report through on email from Blue I had to chase them twice We had taken various pictures and a video at the airport so I would encourage you to check and do this It takes 5 minutes and we included the outside of the rental building in the video to show it was at collection It would have been great to have this ready so we could have gone inside to raise any issues if needed The car apart from the above was great and in good condition It was comfortable and the heated seats were great The discount fob token for fuel was also handy so do check that as well and take note of where it is accepted During our trip Blue emailed to inform us of a storm that was approaching and hitting the next day We took their advice and did not drive that day we opted to stay in the city instead but it was great to know in advance We felt informed and up to date with that side of their communication I have given Blue 4 stars as I feel they could update the GPS systems and their communication around the condition of the car could have been quicker They did advise me to check my spam but I already had before emailing them They could have just resent it rather than emailing to say to do this first We had a good experience overall and we would definitely recommend Blue Car Rental We will hopefully visit Iceland again soon and when we do we will look to use them again
