Used them in November 2018 - only leaving a review now as I ve had some really poor rental car experiences since with other companies and thought amidst all the negative reviews it was only fair to leave some positive feedback for a rental company where it was due Long story short booked a 4x4 for 2 days in Iceland Didn t get the one we chose never have anywhere but got one in the same category which was just as good The pick up process was straightforward from their office in Reykjavik - I was encouraged to check the car over for damages before driving away in it which I did I found some minor marks which I was assured were not of any importance They did try to sell me extra insurance which isn t noted on the website The only reason Im giving 4 and not 5 stars as I believe rental companies need to be more transparent with their pricing however I was prepared for this and had my own rental insurance which was much cheaper The guy at the desk was fine with that and didn t push me to purchase their own insurance Didn t have any problems with the car the 2 days we used it Dropped it off at the airport on the last day the return process probably took no more than 15-20 minutes while the guy checked the car over - there was no damage he didn t try to make a scene about any of the little marks I d noticed on the pick up which I was a bit worried about and that was that There is a regular shuttle bus from their office to the main terminal or its about a 4 minute walk The staff seemed friendly enough at both offices No complaints other than maybe a bit more transparency on pricing

Really good place to rent car in Iceland One tiny problem was that back windshield wiper was broken as well as the back light However otherwise it was perfect and very easy

Blue car rental were pretty easy to deal with friendly and didn t screw us over We hired a Suzuki Vitara which is a medium size small if you re American SUV with AWD suitable for light off roading The Vitara was underpowered and slow but did the job and was fuel efficient Their pickup and drop off is super fast and efficient They allow their 4x4 s on F-Roads which is a big bonus as most of the european renters don t We went to Landmannalagur via the F208 the easiest F-Road and the car was more than capable for that That said the car we got was pretty beat up scratches and dents everywhere bits missing and someone had already ruined all 4 doors in Iceland it s so windy you need to be really careful with them 2 opened way too far to 90degrees threatening to break the bodywork and 2 wouldn t stay open so it was just an inconvenience The central locking sometimes didn t work dents scratches etc In a way with the gravel roads that s ok because you don t have to worry about it being 100 perfect if you get a slight ding off a stone or whatever we didn t Obviously not every car can be new but it s pretty obvious that they don t fix any damage done to their cars before renting them out again and that did mean that as well as putting up with a tatty car I was constantly worried that they d try to screw us when we got back by insisting some of the damage was new Happily they didn t the car did the job everything was fine and I would hire from them again

Booked and got a Dacia Duster 4WD for a 10 day road trip around Iceland Price was in-line with rates elsewhere Vehicle I got had 80K on the clock and it could have been cleaner inside There is a difference between full on the fuel gauge and the what s actually in the tank - the previou renter had sussed that out by the look of things That said here s my experience Pick-up was easy enough and the young lady was very helpful with info and advice The car was a pleasure to drive - it did a further 3K with me on all road surfaces and performed well Fuel economy not quite what they d have you believe - I got an average of 14km per litre or 7 litres per 100km Returning the vehicle was straightforward and the young man checked over the vehicle with me present All good Overall I was happy with the vehicle and service

We rented a Dacia Duster for 10 days in November 2021 and drove the ring road The booking and online check in was simple with the pick up only taking a few minutes Drop off was also easy and they took a few minutes to check the car over We did take out the liability waiver for piece of mind and didn t have any accidents or damage to the car so I can t comment on what might be their approach if you have issues However it s the first rental company we have used that actually provides the contract and explains what is is not covered up front We have been renting cars for about 25 years in different countries and I have to say the experience with Blue Car was probably the best Maybe matched by Hertz in downtown Miami Beach The Dacia Duster had just over 100 000 km on it but was clean safe and had the studded tyres we needed So overall we were very pleased with Blue Car Rentals

We have rented a Kia Rio from Blue Car rentals and our experience was good Given that the weather is not bad a small car like this it s fine even for bigger distances However an SUV or a 4x4 would be more appropriate in storms and bad weather The service was excellent during pick up and drop off time The only company in Iceland that prepayment is not needed They also informed us by email on which roads were closed dangerous during the storm I will definitely recommend it to friends and choose it again when I will visit Iceland for 2nd time The only negative thing was that they have charged my credit card for a parking fee 5 times the amount of the fee without any notice

Personally I experienced no problems with pick up and or drop off At the end of the rental no false charges were made and I liked the website very much for booking managing the car and all info related Also a specific question from me was aswered by email within a couple of hours

Friendly staff and very fast and understanding service

I rented a car through Zero Blue Car Rental Keflav k in November 2022 and everything went smoothly the previous exchange of emails picking up the car without human intervention the car was clean and impeccable the check-out equally without human intervention However I had a small problem I think that one of the days it was quite windy and the car door appeared a little damaged In the end I was given a report with that mention and I didn t have to pay anything the insurance worked effectively Congratulations

BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE Booked a BMW X1 online and paid upfront Collected keys from a security box and within 5 mins I was driving to my hotel in a brand new BMW X1 M Series with a full tank and built-in sat nav All communication was timely and clear Delighted with the car and it got us through several days of challenging driving Spotless interior and gleaming exterior I also got a discount on fuel with a chip fob from BlueCar When I dropped it off there was no queue and I was out within a minute I just handed back the key and the lady wished me a safe trip home so easy I ve hired many cars in several countries and this was by far the easiest and fastest experience I ve had Thank you so much for making our trip to Iceland even better
